Ricci Rivero has parted ways with the Taoyuan Pilots just a day before his much-anticipated debut in the 2022-2023 season of the Taiwan P.League+.
The development was announced by the Taoyuan Pilots on their official Instagram page on Friday, Nov. 4, stating that due to Rivero’s injury he “wouldn’t be able to compete at his best level for the upcoming regular season game.”
The 6-foot-1, who departed to Taiwan last September to suit up as an import for the Pilots –– supposedly the first Filipino to see action in the league, played in just one preseason game.
“Taoyuan Pauian Pilot announced today that with mutual consents, the contact between Pilots and Ricci Rivero is terminated. GM Sean Chen it was a hard decision. He considers Ricci a very skilled player with a great attitude,” the post wrote.
Before his collegiate championship run with the University of the Philippines was even over, the 24-year-old cager had been approached by the Taiwanese team and was looking forward to his commitment to the team.
