Team Secret will be the country’s lone representative against nine other teams vying for the last slot for the Asia Pacific region for the Champions in Istanbul, Turkey.

APAC kings Paper Rex, which ruled both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Challengers and placed second in Stage 2 Masters, is already qualified alongside Xerxia of Thailand.

Parading Team Secret are Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan, Jessie “JessieVash” Cuyco, Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza, Kevin “dispenser” Te, Riley “witz” Go, and Jeremy “Jremy” Cabrera in the hopes of barging into the Champions once more.

Teams would have to go through a double elimination bracket in the week-long tournament as Team Secret takes on Made in Thailand of Thailand for its first match while the grand final is set on Aug. 7, Sunday.

Team Secret crashed out of VCT-APAC contention last June after yielding to Xerxia in the lower bracket final despite defeating the Thai team in the upper bracket quarterfinal.

In the Champions 2021, where European team Acend ruled, the Filipinos finished 5th-8th alongside Cloud9, X10 CRIT, and Fnatic.

Meanwhile, other participating APAC squads in the LCQ are Bleed Esports of Singapore; ONIC Esports and BOOM Esports of Indonesia, Fancy United Esports and CERBERUS of Vietnam; Griffin Esports of Hong Kong and Taiwan; Alter Ego of Indonesia; and ORDER of Oceania.

North America, South America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), and East Asia will also hold their respective LCQ tournaments to determine five more countries and teams joining in the Champions.

Aside from Paper Rex and Xerxia, OpTic Gaming and XSET of North America; FunPlus Phoenix and Fnatic of EMEA; LOUD of Brazil, Leviatan of Latin America; DRX of Korea; and ZETA DIVISION of Japan have already qualified for the Champions.
