Onic PH made a good account of itself in its debut beating Bren Esports, 2-1, to notch its first win in the tournament with a new-look roster that featured players from champion amateur team Monster Anarchy.

Its new captain Ralph “Rapidoot” Adrales even came through with a clutch fatal link ultimate of his Atlas to cap off a huge comeback victory in the series-clinching Game 3.

“Lahat po kami na-pressure doon kasi grabe yung pinalitan namin, sobrang taas. Ang dami ring bashers, minamaliit kami. Underdog kami pero gusto naming ipakita sa kanila na may ibubuga kami,” said Rapidoot, who was signed by Onic PH following the departure of its former players in Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy, Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera, Marky “Markyyy” Capacio and Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol.

A lot of fans questioned the decision of Onic, opting to go for a rookie-laden lineup for the new season instead of sticking to its former lineup that gave them two runner-up finishes in the MPL PH Season 8 and in the M3 World Championship.

Those doubts, however, served as fuel for Rapidoot and the rest of the team to perform better for the rest of the season and prove that they belong to the top dogs in the league.

“Dahil doon sa mga bashers ta’s sa pinalitan namin sa Onic, gigil kaming lahat. Gigil kaming maglaro, gigil kaming manalo,” added the Onic skipper.

For head coach Mark Kevin “Bluffzy” Delos Reyes, while his team will have to hurdle a lot of challenges along the way for the rest of the season, he is confident that they have what it takes to overcome it and compete against the best teams.

“Lagi ko naman po sa kanila nagsiset ako kami ng expectations. Lagi ko sinasabi na magiging mahirap pero di magiging impossible. Iyon po yung mindset namin na kahit mahirap, alam ko na kaya namin and confident kami namakaksabay kami sa kanila,” said Bluffzy.
