Francine Padios captured the Philippines’ first gold medal after besting Indonesian opponent Puspa Arumsari in the women’s artistic seni tunggal event of the 2021 Southeast Asian Games at the Bac Tu Liem Gymnasium in Vietnam Wednesday, May 11.

Padios eclipsed her performance in the 2019 edition where she settled for silver medal here in the Philippines more than two years ago.

In her three minutes and one second routine, Padios scored 9.960 which was relatively higher compared to Arumsari’s 9.945.
