Collegiate sports fans are in for a treat as the University Athletic Association of the Philippines has set sights on holding basketball games with live audience after the first round.

No less than Season 84 President Nonong Calanog of host De La Salle said there have been talks to pursue the accommodation of limited spectators at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Calanog, however, said top priority is to finish the first round first without any further delay. The last set of matches in the first round, at least for basketball, is slated on April 9.

But it will still boil down if the Covid-19 situation in Metro Manila eases in the next few months.

Note that the 84th season will kick off on Saturday, March 26 with a pre-recorded opening ceremony and four basketball games.

Games will be held under a bubble setup at MOA Arena as players were also holed up in their respective campus bubbles.

Respective mode of transportation per university will serve as a “tunnel” to avoid unnecessary physical contact aside from the actual plays in-game.

No spectators will be allowed and only select media and broadcast partners, particularly Cignal and Smart, will be accommodated to cover the games live.
