RRQ Philippines and Grindsky Esports both scored opening day victories in the Wild Rift Champions Southeast Asia – Philippines on Friday, Feb. 25

RRQ bucked the first game jitters as it completed a 2-1 reverse sweep of Oasis Gaming in the opening match of the season while Grindsky kicked off its WCS campaign on an emphatic 2-0 victory over Sunsparks.
It was Oasis Gaming which actually drew the series first blood as it capitalized on RRQ errors in the tightly contested Game 1. OAS prevailed with a 16-15 win behind the efforts of Ecila who unloaded a 4-3-7 KDA on the Darius.
Oasis continued to roll as it started Game 2 with guns blazing, racing to an early 7-1 start. RRQ, after shaking off the jitters, slowly climbed their way back to the match as it punished Oasis for every overextension in team fights.
RRQ then scored two Aces on Oasis, none bigger than the final clash where Sean Khierby Miranda “Helios” Palisoc took over for RRQ as he scored a quadrakill to help his team force a deciding match.
Riding the momentum, RRQ made sure to secure its first win in the tournament following a dominant 24-3 series clincher. Helios stepped up once more with a 5-0-11 on the Zed while Chazz added a 7-0-3 line on the Kha’zix.
Meanwhile in the second match, it was Chianese1 on the Kha’zix that shone the brightest in its opening game against Sunsparks. He unloaded a 15.00 KDA ratio while unleashing 15k damage to power his squad’s 22-4 Game 1 win.
Grindsky kept its foot on the gas pedal in the second game as it seized control of the match right from the get go. Although, there were flashes of brilliance from Sunsparks, its late contest to the Grinsky’s Baron Nashor take spelled doom to the squad.
Grindsky completed an ace to end the series after its 15-7 Game 2 win.
