Originally scheduled to close on Jan. 8, PeSO granted a Jan. 15 extension following the appeals from teams who asked for more leeway to secure necessary requirements for the tournament.

“Due to the large amount of teams asking for more time to secure the necessary requirements, Team Sibol is extending the registration period from now UNTIL January 15, 2022,” said PeSO in a post on the official Sibol page.

“We want the best of the best to be able to enter and compete for the nation’s pride without being limited by the current difficulty securing the necessary paperwork,” it added.

So far, registrations are open to four medal events in three esports titles namely the gender-neutral Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Crossfire and the Men’s and Women’s division of the League of Legends Wild Rift.

The qualifiers will be a two-phased tournament where registered teams will be battling it out in Phase 1. Teams who will come out on top of Phase 1 will face invited teams in Phase 2. These teams are invited by PeSO based on its past achievements in the esports title.

The format and number of invited teams will vary depending on the esports title.

Teams which will reigned supreme in the qualifiers will get the rights to don the country’s colors in the biennial meet set on May in Hanoi, Vietnam.
