The Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association administrative committee recommends to file a legal complaint against pole vaulter EJ Obiena and in the process drop him from the national team in connection to an alleged fund misuse for his foreign coach during his training camp in Italy.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 4, the committee revealed the list of recommendations which includes filing Estafa against Obiena, a complaint against Ukrainian coach Vitaly Petrov before World Athletics for “violation of the Integrity Code of Conduct”, and also declaring James Michael Lafferty persona non grata.

The report, which highlights the alleged misappropriation of funds that amounts to P3.6 million for the coaching fee of Petrov, will be forwarded to the Philippine Sports Commission and the Commission on Audit for further investigation.
