Two unvaccinated players will be prohibited from suiting up for their teams in the upcoming PBA Governors’ Cup.
Magnolia Pambansang Manok’s Rafi Reavis and former teammate Justin Melton, who is now with Terrafirma, were listed as those who are yet to be jabbed based on the official lineups released by the league Tuesday, Dec. 7.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial had earlier said that the league will implement a “no vaccination, no play” policy in compliance with the resolution of the Metro Manila Development Authority.
Marcial also said in the past that about 97 percent of the players have been inoculated.
The policy is similar to that of the NBA which kept Kyrie Irving out of action for the Brooklyn Nets since the start of the season.
It will take a while before Melton can play for his new team after being traded from Magnolia in exchange for rookie center James Laput.
Magnolia, on the other hand, won’t be having its veteran center who remains a key part of the roster.
