Carl Jammes Martin unloaded solid right hooks and precise counterpunches to dethrone Mark Anthony Geraldo and become the new Philippine super bantamweight champion at the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque Saturday, Dec. 4.

Martin, 22, scored a 117-111, 115-113, 115-113 unanimous decision win to remain undefeated in 18 matches on top of his 15 knockouts after the slugfest with Geraldo, who fell to a 38-10-3 win-loss-draw record.

Martin started strong in the first few rounds, connecting multiple right hooks but only left little to no damage to Geraldo.

The unbeaten boxer from Ifugao showed who’s boss at counterpunching, capitalizing on his speed to connect powerful uppercuts and his signature right hooks.

Geraldo, who was pretty much on the aggressive mode in the latter rounds, had his best moment at the ninth round after landing some hefty hooks and solid body shots which prompted the Ifugao youngster to rely on counterpunching.
