Filipino fighter Rolando Dy couldn’t ask for a better Christmas gift but a sweet victory in the cage.

Dy, who is set to fight Serbian foe Slobodan Maksimovic on Dec. 18 in the main event of BRAVE CF 56, hopes to get back his winning groove after suffering a corner stoppage defeat against Abdisalam Kubanychbek last March.
“I want to win again, that’s for sure. There’s no greater gift I can receive this coming Christmas other than putting myself back in the win column. That’s all I want for Christmas this year,” said Dy, who has a 14-10 mixed martial arts record.
“I had a great and unforgettable 2020. This year is quite different. I started my 2021 on the wrong foot. Closing out the year with a win is certainly the goal in my next fight. It’s a win-or-bust kind of situation, but I am going all out for this one.”
It would be recalled that Dy earned the 2020 BRAVE CF Fighter of the Year after back-to-back impressive wins against John Brewin and Maciek Gierszewski.
But his winning ways came to an end after meeting Kubanychbek with Dy’s corner throwing in the towel by the end of the second round.
This time though, Dy wants to end the year on a high note by any means possible when he faces Maksimovic, who has 17 wins, six losses, and one draw decision in his fight record.
“Decision, knockout, or submission, I am open to all possible outcomes. But one thing is for sure, I will be ready for whatever my opponent brings on fight night. I will make my Christmas celebration more special this year,” said the son of Filipino boxing great Rolando Navarrete.
Maksimovic, for his part, will be making his promotional debut coming from a two-match streak since November 2020.
