Only a few put their trust that Onic Philippines could climb its way to the top of the M3 World Championship playoffs but the PH representatives managed to prove their worth with an unbeaten upper bracket run en route to a Grand Finals trip, much to the delight of its head coach Denver “Yeb” Miranda.

After losing to Onic Indonesia in their opening match of the tournament, Onic embarked to a blistering 11-game win streak including a sweep of all their playoff matches with nine straight wins.

“As their coach I’m so proud, ‘di kami natalo sa upper bracket, in every game nakikita ko sobrang gigil nila, sobrang gusting gusto naming manalo. Dito sa Singapore kahit dun sa Philippines, we move as a team we play as a team whatever happen we are a team,” said Coach Yeb following its 3-0 win over BloodthirstyKings to book a spot to the M3 Grand Finals.

The road to the Grand Finals however wasn’t exactly seamless for Onic PH as it also experienced tough matchups along the way. The Filipinos started the upper bracket run with a sweep of RSG Singapore before it took down the heavy favorite RRQ Hoshi in a shock 3-0 sweep.

Despite the success in the first two rounds, Onic PH still encountered doubters, this time against Mobazane of the BloodThirstyKings. Onic responded to an apparent insult from the NA squad captain with a dominant 3-0 sweep.

“Sa akin sobrang unexpected, ineexpect ko lang na aabot kami ng finals pero di ko inexpect na sweep kasi yung team sa M3 malalakas, the best of the best yan sa country nila eh kaya sobrang nagpapasalamat ako kay Lord na nadala naming dito,” added Onic captain Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy.

Meanwhile, Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera shrugged off doubters as he intens to focus more on his game.

“Sa totoo lang wala naman ako pakaialam sa rankings nila basta ginagawa lang namin yung best naming. Gusto lang namin ipakita sa fans kung ano yung kaya naming,” he stressed.
