Alaska snapped a two-game skid while extending Blackwater’s long misery after a 98-75 win on Wednesday, Dec. 22 in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Five players scored in double figures as the Aces improved to 3-2 following tough losses to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and TNT Tropang Giga.
The Aces also handed the Bossing their fifth loss in as many games in the season-ending conference, thus resulting in a 24th consecutive defeat. Blackwater, which has not won since Oct. 2020 in the Philippine Cup bubble, has lost all of its games in the tournament by double figures.
Maverick Ahanmisi topscored with 17 points while adding eight rebounds, two assists and two steals, Jeron Teng put up 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists while Robbie Herndon and Mike Tolomia added 12 points apiece.
Import Olu Ashaolu had 10 points and seven rebounds but suffered a calf strain in the third quarter.
Rashawn McCarthy and Ed Daquioag were the only Blackwater players in double figures with 16 and 12 points.
