
San Juan Knights-Go For Gold returned at the helm after an 83-81 victory over FSD Makati-Army on Saturday in the FilBasket Subic Championship at the Subic Gym.
Jhonard Clarito led the Knights with a double-double performance of 22 points and 12 rebounds as they improved to 4-1 to forge a three-way tie on top with AICC Manila and Davao Occidental Tigers.
Alvin Abundo drained a three-pointer and Orlan Omar split his free throws with 24 seconds left to give the Knights a comfortable 83-78 lead for good.
Abundo finished with 10 points while Omar added 14.
FSD Makati-Army skidded to 1-4 despite Jess Mar Villahermosa scoring 20 points and five rebounds.
Medical Depot and Burlington EDG Sports, meanwhile, hiked their tally to similar 3-2 marks after outplaying their rivals.
Medical Depot survived Mtrans Buracai de Laiya-Batangas City in overtime, 99-93, while Burlington EDG Sports routed the Muntinlupa Defenders, 103-67.
Medical Depot outscored Mtrans in the extra period, 14-8, with Christian Moralde and Kevin Villafranca leading the charge.
Patrick Cabahug powered Medical Depot with 31 points and 11 rebounds, while Villafranca and Egie Mojica added 15 and 12 points.
Fran Yu scored 20 points and Chito Jaime contributed 13 points for Mtrans, who dropped to 2-3.
Burlington, meanwhile, banked on its 10 triples including four from Jett Vidal to give Muntinlupa its fifth straight defeat.
Jeymark Mallari and Vidal combined for 30 points while Neljun Saldaña and Lorenzo Navarro added 11 and 10 points for Burlington.
