
Filipino cue artists by Carlo Biado got off to a blazing start with an opening-round victory in the Abu Dhabi Open 9-Ball Championship Tuesday at the Power Break Billiard Hall in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Biado, the reigning US Open 9-Ball Champion, blanked Mohamad Eiljeffrey, 9-0, while Roland Garcia crushed hometown bet Hussain Ali, 9-4.
Dubai-based Arman Cagol also made his title campaign felt with a 9-5 triumph over fellow Filipino Jordan Banares, even as Jayson Nuguid, who is based in Abu Dhabi, bested compatriot Carlo Raymundo 9-7.
Also sharing the day’s honors were Arnel Bautista, who routed teammate Jhun Banlasan, 9-4; Oliver Medenilla, who smashed Iran’s Mohamad Fharaj, 9-5; Aivhan Maluto, who nipped Abdulla AlNuami of UAE, 9-5; and Israel Rota, who outclassed UAE’s Mohamad Ali, 9-5.
The tournament offers a total prize pot of 46,000 UAE dirham (around P600,000) with the champion player pocketing 20,000 AED (around P270,000).
