Magnolia Pambansang Manok’s Calvin Abueva was named the Davco-Best Player of the Conference before Game 4 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor, Pampanga.
Abueva edged teammate Ian Sangalang and TNT rookie Mikey Williams to bag his second career BPC, the biggest individual award he received since his 16-month suspension was lifted last year.
He also became the sixth player from the Purefoods franchise to bag the BPC after Jerry Codinera, Alvin Patrimonio, Rey Evangelista, James Yap and fellow Hotshot Paul Lee.
The Magnolia forward garnered 934 points compiled from statistics (415) and votes from the PBA Press Corps (440), players (54) and the PBA Commissioner’s Office (25).
But Abueva has bigger goals in mind as he hopes to lead Magnolia to the championship against TNT in the ongoing best-of-seven title series.
The Hotshots entered Wednesday’s match needing another win to tie the series at 2-2.
